Junior Researcher
Zuzana Bednáriková received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Safarik University in Košice in 2016, focusing on inhibitors of amyloid self-assembly of proteins. During her Ph.D. studies, she spent several short-term works stays in CNR Bologna and University in Bucharest, where she had the opportunity to extend her knowledge about atomic force microscopy and techniques for evaluating cytotoxicity of compounds and aggregates. She established cell biological experiments and protocols studying the intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) associated with Alzheimer's disease (Aβ42 and Aβ40 peptides). Her main scientific focus is identifying substances with anti-aggregation activity to intrinsically disordered proteins and examining their cytotoxicity. She has comprehensive experience in nanoparticle-biologically active compound complexes characterization via spectroscopic methods and microscopical techniques (AFM). Dr. Bednáriková was awarded the Slovak Biophysical Society Award for young scientists in 2018; Biophysical Journal Outstanding Poster Award at the conference Polymers and Self-Assembly: From Biology to Nanomaterials held in Rio de Janeiro in 2015.
